Dasha, Mischa and I enjoyed a fun shoot with weaponry from Lion Rampant.

She's looking good holding the sword, brilliant, straight pose portraying authority and dominance. She's got a wonderful body, pretty figure, but I'm not too sure about the eye makeup, think I may like it how it looks in the other shots more.
You took a good shot, I really like the angle from where you took it. The lighting does a good jos as well :)

That's one fuck-off big sword there, Mark. Compensating for something? sorry, couldn't resist

I'd have to agree with what's-his-face up there on the eye makeup. If I might add some further criticism in my infinite ignorance, watch your shadows... another light source hitting the backdrop, or moving her further forward from the backdrop would have reduced/eliminated the shadow she casts, which I think would have been beneficial.

Now back to the sword.. is the tip of that resting on the ground? because :omfg: Dasha is tall--compared to us circus midgets anyway ;)
:iconelffinarts:
I'm peeved at the shadows too mate. I dont have real softboxes and was using two speedlights (one with inflatable mini softbox) and our lounge is really too damned small for these shoots. Love to buy two of these apartments so I can have a studio/accom for friends/models in the second one. *sigh* hehe

Dasha is always one for the heavy goth eye makeup - it's kinda part of her character so I dont ask her to do anything different.

and that sword is long, I rest my chin on the pommel and I am 6'2" sans boots. It's at eye level for the owner, my fight master.

Ugh, I know what you mean about having too little room. I usually take over my sister's living room when I want to do a shoot, which works well unless she's shitty with me

All of us Brissie deviants should chip in and rent a place for shoots, that would be sweet :D

If you ever want to borrow the strobes, just give me a yell.. as long as I don't have a shoot set up for that day (rare) and I get them back (I'm sure I will), it's all good :)

PS: What's a 'fight master'?
:iconelffinarts:
I have access to a larger room but it isnt air conditoned and that is a MUST so I abandoned that idea. lol

I'll talk to Shevaun at Dragon Image and see if she is cool for a group discount. We could probably hire their studio over one night and shoot all night for a reduced fee. Seeing as her account on Model Mayhem looks good, it may be that she would want to join in to meet and utilise our models and make it even cheaper. One can at least hope eh ;)

I'd LOVE to borrow the strobes! They do come with brollies dont they? I can imagine shooting at my place they'd have me shooting at 1/500th @ f22 :lmao: wicked!

and a fightmaster is the teacher of sword skills, archery and performance within our medieval society. Our's is exceptional and you wouldnt want to pick a serious fight with him. lol

Ahhh, lucky! Nowhere I have access to is airconditioned, so through summer shoots are always going to be sweltering :cries: 10mins and the sweat starts to run

Speaking of Shevaun, I was in there yesterday and thinking "God, she looks familiar." Sure enough, got home, was having a look on Ozmodel and there she is! What do Dragon charge normally for a day? it's like $380 or something stupid, isn't it? Have you seen the studio, by the way? Softboxes bigger than I am tall :omg:

The strobes DO come with brollies, but you don't want to use them, the strobes simply aren't strong enough and it diffuses the light too much. I only actually tested the brollies yesterday for the first time.. I was shooting at some stupidly slow shutter speed wide open with underexposed results (only using one strobe at a time) I usually only use the strobes with the barndoors (and honeycomb/gel filters where appropriate).

I'm stoked, found the flash sync cable so now I can wire up the Rollei to the strobes. Medium format + strobes = :omfg: orgasm.

Wicked, swords! I always wanted to learn how to use one.. I used to do tae kwon do as a kid, but weaponry is what always interested me--I never did learn any.

On a completely unrelated topic, lining up a shoot with a new deviant in a week or two, should be fun--corsets and stuff :excited:
:icondigitalee:
PS: The strobes aren't that strong, most of the time I shoot, f/16 1/200 is a fair exposure. That said, it's going to depend on distance from subject, how the lights are positioned and what you actually want anyway.

My lounge might do... its reasonably big and has aircon :) Check it out when you get your butt round here for coffee or drinkies... and if its suitable, i dont mind letting you use the space :)
:iconttbloodlusttt:
:) great job... i'd like to make a suggestion... i think it'd be nice if you worked with the models more to not focus so much on the camera but different eye positions... i think that may add more emotion to the photo... in my opinion some people seem to try to 'put on a face' when photographed and i notice it a lot, when this happens you get this 'my photo is being taken expression', when you have the subject focus on other things they arent as sure when the photo is being taken so you are more likely to capture a genuine emotion... :D just making suggestions

shes very pretty i like the pose. :D
